Civil rights group gets hot and bothered

July 24th, 2006  ·  1 Comment

The Association for Civil Rights (ACR) - your typical liberal everything-is-Israel’s-fault human rights organization - got all worked up Monday after IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz said every Hizb’allah missile barrage on Haifa would be met with a similar IDF bombing of southern Beirut.

I thought the international community wanted Israel to react in a “proportionate” manner? What could be more proportionate than doing to your enemy exactly what he has done to you? Continue reading »

Just one problem, Kofi

July 21st, 2006  ·  39 Comments

United Nations chief Kofi Annan, who consequently has a dismal record of conflict resolution, announced Thursday his plan for ending the fighting between Israel and Hizb’allah.

An immediate and simultaneous cessation of hostilities by both sides, the transfer of Israel’s abducted soldiers to the Lebanese army, and the creation of yet another toothless international committee tasked with overseeing the disarmament of Hizb’allah - and everything should be right as rain.

Just one problem: those terms are inconsistent with Hizb’allah’s present objectives and strategic goals. Continue reading »

A golden opportunity

July 18th, 2006  ·  1 Comment

If the West is, as it says, engaged in a global war on terror, it must view the current fighting between Israel and Hizb’allah as a golden opportunity to take out one of the world’s most powerful terrorist organizations. Continue reading »

US fuels Israeli offensive

July 16th, 2006  ·  3 Comments

The US will fuel Israel’s offensive against the forces of Islamic terror by supplying feeding the Israeli warplanes currently pounding the Hizb’allah hordes.

The Pentagon also appeared to acknowledge Israel’s position as true enforcer of “peace and security” in the Middle East.

America’s backing for Israel in this fight has been phenomenal. Let’s hope it continues.

Israel’s window of opportunity is closing

July 16th, 2006  ·  No Comments

UN and EU representatives tasked with bringing an end to the fighting between Israel and Hizb’allah are expected in Jerusalem Sunday, as leaders of the world’s top industrialized nations meet at the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg with the Middle East at the top of their agenda.

With so much activity in the international community, Israeli officials figure they have about 48-72 hours to inflict as much damage on Hizb’allah as possible before the world steps in and forces an end to the fighting.

The world always does this. Nearly every instance in which Israel was poised to eliminate or seriously set back the Arab threat to its citizens has been hijacked by an internationally-imposed ceasefire.

Apparently beyond the small-minded thinking of these world leaders is the fact such behavior only prolongs the conflict by perpetuating the existence of groups like Hizb’allah.

The Israelis know what is coming, so they need to act fast. Time to take a page from the American playbook and employ the kind of overwhelming force that will ensure a swift victory.

What happens when you mix rogue regimes and terror

July 15th, 2006  ·  1 Comment

The combination of rogue Islamic regimes and terrorist organizations is a recipe for instability and mass bloodshed, and was consequently one of the primary justifications behind America’s invasion of Iraq.

Terrorist organizations are far more likely to, as the Saudis put it, engage in “irresponsible adventurism.” They only lack the resources available to a sovereign state.

Throw in an Iran, add a little Syria, and you have a well-armed, technologically-advanced, foaming-mouthed terrorist organization like Hizb’allah that is light years ahead of its “Palestinian” allies.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah and all their buddies could not in their wildest dreams hope to knock out an Israeli warship.

Thank God the US took out Saddam Hussein, or we may be in a lot more trouble than we are today.

Media ignores Israeli civility

July 14th, 2006  ·  10 Comments

The mainstream media, not to mention European governments, is completely ignoring Israel’s careful selection of targets in Lebanon as it seeks to paint the Jewish state as a ruthless predator.

What is also being ignored is the fact that every time Israel gets ready to strike a target that may result in civilian casualties, it warns everyone to get out of the way. This despite the fact the bad guys are also notified of the impending attack and given time to escape.

When was the last time the Arabs warned Israeli Jews to get out of the way before they attacked?

Answer: Never.

Reason: Israel is not targeting civilians. The Muslim Arab terrorists, however, want to kill and maim every single Jew they can get their hands on.

Follow America’s lead

July 14th, 2006  ·  6 Comments

Israel has happily acknowledged America as the leader in the global war on Islamic terror, and so the time has come for the Jewish state to step through the doors being opened by its ally and mimic the examples set by the United States.

Contrary to earlier reports, Bush has reportedly rejected Lebanon’s plea for an imposed ceasefire, leaving Israel free to continue its assault on Hizb’allah.

Ambassador John Bolton is swatting down all attempts to issue a UN Security Council resolution against Israel, effectively pulling the teeth from current international criticism of Israel’s actions.

And Washington has clearly identified both Syria and Iran as the puppet masters behind Hizb’allah’s actions, legitimizing an Israeli strike on Damascus.

The doors are all open. All that is left is for Israel to step through and learn from the US victories in Iraq and Afghanistan: Swift, overwhelming force will end the war before anyone has a real chance to stop it.

The US cannot hold back the world forever. The time to act is now.

An opportune moment

July 13th, 2006  ·  12 Comments

The ongoing flare-up with Hizb’allah could not have come at a better time for Israel.

Israel has a unique opportunity to deal decisively with both Hizb’allah and the Assad regime in Syria with little or no threat of military intervention by other regional powers.

Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak is highly unlikely to lead his nation into battle against Israel on behalf of Syria, as he is old, weak, and heavily beholden to American financial and military aid.

Of course, we all know that thanks to the Americans, Saddam Hussein is no longer a threat.

And with US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan sandwiching Iran, even madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is unlikely to attack Israel and give Washington the excuse it has sought to abruptly end his quest to pave the way for the 12th Imam.

This may be just the opportunity Israel and the US have been waiting for to eliminate two of the biggest threats to regional stability. It should not be wasted.

Olmert gets Bush-like

July 13th, 2006  ·  No Comments

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was sounding an awful lot like US President George W. Bush Wednesday night when he announced his cabinet had given a green light to the IDF to crush the Hizb’allah threat. Continue reading »
