Seemingly intent on facilitating Israel’s ultimate demise, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this week approved the immigration to Judea and Samaria of 41 Iraqis of “Palestinian” descent. Critics rightly pointed out that Olmert had singlehandedly shattered Israel’s opposition to the so-called Palestinian “right of return.”
The Palestinians demand that as part of any final status peace agreement, Israel open its gates to some five million Arabs descended from Arabs who fled the newly reborn Israel at the behest of their leaders during the 1948 Middle East war.
The “right of return” is a critical component of Mahmoud Abbas’ long-term plans to demographically destroy the Jewish state, a scheme that he inherited from his deceased mentor, Yasser Arafat.
Israel has successfully rejected that demand for decades, and even gained the support of the US and other Western powers in regards to that issue. But now that an Israeli leader has voluntarily compromised on the “right of return,” it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for future Israeli negotiators to counter such demands.
To make matters worse, it was also revealed this week that Olmert is holding secret final status talks with Abbas, despite the fact that the Palestinians have still never complied with their original commitment to eliminate the threat of anti-Israel Palestinian terrorism.
Now, Olmert is not a stupid man. A prime minister who manages to hold on to power despite an unprecedented rash of government corruption, major security blunders and almost no popularity among the general public and the members of his own party cannot be a clueless man.
But he can be short-sighted and self-serving, and both of those traits form the necessary foundation for the two possible explanations for Olmert’s behavior:
Olmert believes that if he throws every possible concession at the Palestinians something is bound to “stick” and enable him to sign a final status “peace” agreement, thereby cementing his legacy as a “successful” peacemaker (this, I believe, is the same thing driving Bush’s decisions);
Olmert is trying to set the stage so that what everyone believes is Netanyahu’s inevitable return to power will be marked by catastrophe and surrender. By making precedent-setting concessions and prematurely engaging in final status talks, Olmert is all but ensuring that Netanyahu will have no choice but to continue on the same path.
The second explanation ultimately leads to the first. Olmert’s motivation for discrediting Netanyahu would be to make himself appear to be a stronger and more capable leader than he really is, paving the way for his own future return to power.
Sadly, such selfish conniving is definitely not beyond Israel’s current crop of leaders. Pray for God to quickly raise up a David to lead this nation, whether it be Netanyahu or somebody else.

As much as we want Israel to wake up and stand against their Islamic (seed of Ishmael by Hagar through Esau) enemies, they must endure God’s punishment a seen in Jermiah 30:7;
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Jacob IS Israel and his seed will be punished as God has ordained. As the prophet Zechariah stated in Zecharaiah 13:8 & 9 2/3 of the seed of Israel (Jacob) will die and 1/3 will go through the fire of refinement.
8: And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9: And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
God will deal with Hi elect Israel just as He has stated and what we see is the “blindness in part” still overshadowing them until “the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.” Rom. 11:25.

I guess I was wrong; Olmert is capable of doing something right. Hopefully this will be but a first step.

Thoughts from a canadian… It seems to me that Olmert is going down the list of things that won’t work, thus proving to the world that it won’t work. Nethenyahu will just have to stay away from scandal to be named as the best man for the job.
Palestiniens, including Abbas, have done nothing to promote peace. They don’t deserve a country, they don’t deserve fewer checkpoints. I don’t even think that Fatah deserves to see it’s prisoners released before their time is done, and NO MORE MONEY: Let Arafat’s wife pay for the groceries… Doesn’t she feel any sympathy for her “muslim brothers in need”? I’m sorry, I’m still under the shock of learning that Yasser Arafat had BILLIONS in the bank. What a crook, that one. Mahmoud Abbas has yet to prove that he’s worth something for Israel.
Last words: Don’t give up your land, it’s yours, you’ve earned it! Happy 40th anniversary!

Thank you, Ryan, for this update.
Olmert is very close to winding up just like Ariel Sharon. When Sharon was “persuaded” to give up Gaza…God sent swift judgment on him.
Olmert’s judgment from Almighty God is already on the way, I am sure. God does not “wink” at dividing the Land of Israel.
Olmert is the “man behind the mask.” He projects the gentlemanly, confident smile; behind the smile is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is consumed by greed. God will soon bring him down…..judgment is on the way!!!
Am praying now for God to send Israel a David….I hope it will be B. Netanyahu…He is a great leader, and a true son and protector and defender of Israel. He will never agree to divide Israel’s Land.
Israelis need not look to the United States to come to their rescue and to protect and defend them—-it is a “pipe” dream. Israelis must look ONLY to the MOST HIGH GOD for their protection and their survival….No one else can be trusted now….things have gone too far….
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord. He who keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.”

God used Judas to accomplish His plan for Jesus to fulfill the prophecy of the Old Testament and Judas was a devil . God made sure that His will was done . Nothing was going to happen to Judas .What if Judas was killed by a passing Roman chariot , while he was going to betray Jesus ? God will use Olmert and Bush to do exactly as He wishes . I don’t guess we have to like it , but then we would never start that countdown to the Great Tribulation our own .
I do believe that God has started it already .
