Amir Peretz continues to remind everyone why he is totally the wrong man for the job of defense minister of the State of Israel.
The latest example of Peretz’s total ineptness as top military defender of the Jewish state came on Tuesday, when he said the IDF just may have to go back into Gaza soon because:
“There is no reason to allow the recent escalation [in rocket fire from Gaza] turn into a real threat to the State of Israel.”
I beg your pardon?
What other nation on earth would allow its neighbors to daily lob missiles onto its civilian population centers while pretending that such aggression does not pose any “real threat” to its sovereignty and security?
Don’t even get me started on the unbelievable photos of Peretz inspecting military exercises last week with the lens caps still on his binoculars! The blind defender of Israel!

It is rather strange that he haven’t been forced to resign after the debacle against Hzb. Halutz took responsibility and it is sad that Peretz is not doing the same.
Israel is facing the gravest danger and could soon be forced to fight a war for its existence. To have a ministry of defence with no experience leading the military in that situation is stupid.
There was a lot of protests directly after the war but if I do understand it correctly there is not that much of protests any longer. Let’s hope that Ashkenazi is a good man for his new job and that Peretz do not stand in his way.
Israel has been forced to concentrate on fighting the Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. As a consequence the military has loosed some edge in training conventional large-scale wars.

Israel should hunt a man for the leader position with the qualities of Joshuah . Someone that is very close to God . He doesn’t have to be a military genius , only close to God . God will instruct him .
