French arrogance and naivety - recipe for defeat

September 12th, 2006  ·  11 Comments

Excepting the period of Napolean’s reign, French arrogance and naivety regarding their neighbors and the world at large have only brought defeat for that proud nation over the past several hundred years.

And now the French expect the rest of the West to follow their lead when it comes to dealing with global Islamic terror.

Said French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin to the French National Assembly last week:

“Against terrorism, it is not a war that has to be fought, but — as France has done for years — a determined struggle based on constant vigilance and effective cooperation with our partners.”

But those “partners” he speaks of - entities like Syria, Iran, the Palestinian Authority, Saudi Arabia, etc - are the very ones facilitating terrorism! Cooperation with them will only embolden them to continue playing the terror card, even if discreetly.

Villepin went on to absolve the practitioners of terrorism of all guilt by claiming the phenomenon is an alien concept that has attached itself to real crises in order to spur senseless violence.

He then played apologist for Al Qaeda, Hizb’allah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc by suggesting those crises were in fact justification for terrorist violence against the party purportedly causing the grievance.

“We will never bring this plague to an end except by also fighting against injustice, violence, against crises.”

But Villepin really took the cake with his concluding statement:

“It is the duty of France and Europe to show that the clash of civilizations is not an inevitability. It is only we — French and Europeans — who bear this wisdom inherited from history.”

Ironically, France, under Emperor Charlemagne, was the first European power to repulse Islam’s long desire to overrun the Christian-dominated continent, in what is and always has been a “clash of civilizations.”

To follow the advice of France’s modern leadership is to play right into the hands of Allah and his followers. In light of the past century of French blunders and defeats, we should know better.

I would not like to see any more terrorist attacks - anywhere, but…

Al-Quaida wants to destroy an entire nation. They can not destroy the USA - it’s simply to big. However the destruction of a single city (nuke, diry bomb, chem-bio, insurgency, riots) could destroy a european country.

Could the UK survive without London? France without Paris? Germany without Berlin? Others are much more fragile.

The US has demonstrated a will to fight back. What’s more, the will to kill Islamo Fascists by the tens even hundreds of thousands.

Al-Qaida will shift away from the US for a while. Occasional minor embasy and military targets not withstanding. European cities filled with hostile Arabs are an easier sustainable target.

The recent desperate plea from Bin-Laden to “kill an American in two weeks” has a greater likelyhood of happening in Europe than the US. However blood lust will lead to far more European victims than US.

The article says it all. The people of France should reject this rubbish from their prime Minister. He has shown he is not fit for the position.

I am sure the “great” and “fearless” Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin would feel the same way if he was shot in the face by a radical muslim psycho. Mabye not?

The French are a bunch of wishy washy over-rated knife you in the back wimps. We had to go over and kick Germany out and save their buts twice. I see now why Germany didn’t like them. They can keep their wine.
I expect France to kiss the Arab Emirates rear from now on.

    Shalom Ryan

    Can you believe this guy?

“It is only we — French and Europeans — who bear this wisdom inherited from history.”

What wisdom have they inherited? The same that they did in
W W II……….. surrender . They have learned nothing from history. Oh that, France, Europe, the US and the rest of the civilized world would wake up to the fact of who the enemy really is. It is not Israel, it is not the US, it is Satan and his puppets ; Islam, their false prophet muhammed, and their false god allah. Shalom Jeremy

Thank you, Ryan, for giving us a place to come together from all nations and discuss the world situation and events in a reasonable and open minded manner. It does seem to me that perhaps we “little people” might need to be consulted before Prime Ministers, etc. “jump the gun” and continue to do some “dumb things” which only serve to make bad matters worse.

My daughter has a saying about Mama, she and I: “Three heads are better than one….” If grandmother, mother and daughter can come together and have better decision making ability as a threesome than as one….it seems that it is long overdue for world leaders to take time out to listen to those who genuinely care about what is going on, and are seeking to resolve human conflicts and seeking for real answers to big problems. There are many Mountains in the way; but am reminded that Scripture says we can speak to the Mountain and it will be cast into the sea.

There are answers and solutions—the devil knows it…..that is why he works 24/7 to produce hatred among the masses.

When will we ever wise up and realize that we are all children of Abraham? Soon, I hope. But until then, we will not become weary in well doing. We will press on, holding fast to the Word of God and the Promises He has given us as Believers. Lord Jesus Christ is standing at the heart’s door of each living being….He is standing and knocking….If we open our heart’s door to Him….He will walk in and when He does we are forever changed…..all things become new.

Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for loving us when we are not always loveable. marsha

This is so true, what is frightening is that the US has been
basically taking the same stance for the last 30 years, only
imediately following 9/11 was the US population at large
willing to make any sacrifices or compromises in order to
increase security in relation to this huge threat to the free world,
just like with Nazi Germany, we are sitting by, argueing about
how we should handle it, until the problem becomes so large,
that either this time it will be the demise of the free world, or
again hundreds of thousands of men will have to die to combat
the threat as in WWII, the US population is already groaning under
the “strain” of the loss of some 2,000 soldiers in the Iraq war, we lost more than that on D day, not to mention the 1,000 or so casualties training for D day, what a waste of life, to react so
slowly to an obvious calamatous threat is just plain stupid.

The U.S. has always been of the belief that no one would be able to mount an attack on us until now and yet still so.
That is why the radicals will smuggle in nuclear mini nukes and attack us in a co-ordinated effort. If the National Security found some of these devices do you think we would hear about it? I believe you are right we have already waited to long.
