Olmert gets Bush-like

July 13th, 2006  ·  No Comments

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was sounding an awful lot like US President George W. Bush Wednesday night when he announced his cabinet had given a green light to the IDF to crush the Hizb’allah threat. Continue reading »

Annan lets his anti-Israel face show

July 12th, 2006  ·  16 Comments

UN chief Kofi Annan wasted no time in “condemning without reservation” Israel’s military response to Wednesday’s Hizb’allah assault that left seven Israelis dead, eight wounded, and two as captives of the Lebanese terrorists.

While Annan did insist on the immediate release of the abducted Israelis, he notably failed to explicitly condemn the Hizb’allah raid as he had the Israeli counter-action.

Annan was unsurprisingly joined by a chorus of other world leaders urging Israel to “show restraint,” act in a “moderate and proportionate” manner, and not “seek an eye for an eye” following the unprovoked aggression against its citizens.

But they once again failed to offer a viable alternative to overwhelming Israeli force, apparently believing their own toothless demands would be heeded by Hizb’allah.

Hizb’allah is not going to release the Israelis because the world tells it to, just as it clearly is not going to disarm as the world told it to. And allowing the international community to broker another prisoner exchange between Israel and Hizb’allah will certainly encourage additional abductions.

In the absence of a viable alternative, the world would do well to let Israel pursue the one course of action that will best prevent a repeat of today’s events: the annihilation of Hizb’allah.

Molding the next generation

Having been molded by his society’s death cult, a young “Palestinian” participating in a Hamas summer camp looks forward to soon being able to take part in the national pastime of murdering Jews:

“When we grow up, we will attack and kill the Israelis,” 8-year-old Iyad Abdel-Jawad tells a reporter from Agence France Presse.

Hamas officials insist their summer camps exist to give “Palestinian” children a safe place to learn and interact, and are not used to train future killers.

Pictures such as these would suggest otherwise:

Islam strikes in India

Adherents of the “religion of peace” have struck again - this time in India.

At this time, at least 147 are confirmed dead in a series of bombings on commuter trains in Bombay.

Gaza fighting sparks revolt against Olmert plan

July 11th, 2006  ·  5 Comments

The ongoing Arab aggression and IDF counter-terrorist operations in and around Gaza have sparked a revolt of sorts within Israel’s Kadima Party against the unilateral withdrawal policies of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Continue reading »

Israel’s enemy within

July 9th, 2006  ·  2 Comments

A large portion of Israel’s Arab population has long applauded, supported and even participated in “Palestinian” terrorism against their Jewish countrymen.

With Israel’s Arab parliamentarians becoming more and more bold in their treasonous disdain for Jewish life and Israel’s continued survival, that phenomenon can only grow. Continue reading »

How not to offer a ceasefire

July 9th, 2006  ·  1 Comment

Hamas wants Israel to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza, and has threatened to murder more Jews if Jerusalem does not retract its refusal to do so.

Hamas also insists - despite the fact it is the one desperately looking for a truce - that it’s forces are winning the battle in Gaza, and will continue to “humiliate” the Israelis if the IDF is not reined in.

Hmmm, let’s see, 70 dead terrorists (according to IDF estimates) to one dead Israeli soldier. Now who is humiliating whom?

It all seems an odd way to seek a cessation of hostilities. But, that’s the “Palestinians” for you.

War is not the answer?

July 9th, 2006  ·  15 Comments

Driving around in Southern California today I noticed a bumper sticker that read “War is not the answer.” I assume it was a liberal jab at President George W. Bush’s going to war against those who attacked this nation a short five years ago.

It got me thinking about the kind of ignorant “happy-in-the-bubble” mindset that would lead to the proud display of such a statement. Continue reading »

What American occupation can do

July 9th, 2006  ·  11 Comments

In the wake of World War II, the United States occupied and controlled many aspects of life in Japan. Today that nation is one of the world’s most peaceful and prosperous.

A similar phenomenon is taking place in Iraq, though not to quite so drastic a degree. (Perhaps that’s because the occupation is not as full-fledged as in post-WWII Japan?)

If comments made by Iraqi readers on a BBC forum (BBC no less!) discussing the abduction of IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit are anything to go by, the citizens of Iraq are beginning - as a direct result of America’s intervention - to reject terrorism so thoroughly as to actually support Israel’s current action against Hamas.

From Iraq the Model, whose author was kind enough to monitor the Arabic-language BBC site and translate some of the more pertinent comments:

“About three dozens of comments were made by Iraqis both inside Iraq and in exile and all these comments were supportive of Israel or at least against Hamas as far as the topic is concerned except for only three comments; that’s a 10:1 ratio while as you probably have guesses, the opposite ratio is true about the comments by the rest of Arabs.”

“…what really makes me feel optimistic about this new Iraqi way of thinking is that it shows how Iraqis are beginning to distinguish between terrorism and rightful acts of resistance not only in Iraq but also on a global level and are showing decreasing tolerance for extremism and this in my opinion is what builds peace in the region or any given region of this world.”

Play it both ways, Kofi

July 9th, 2006  ·  1 Comment

Odd, I have never heard Kofi Annan “demand” anything of the Palestinians. You know, like that they stop firing rockets at Israeli towns, blowing themselves up in Israeli cafes, or kidnapping and holding hostage Israeli citizens.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has demanded that Israel take urgent action to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.

Captain Ed has a fix on the reason for this absurdity: “this is the UN.” An organization that, judging by what it spends the lion’s share of its time on, exists for the sole purpose of harassing the Jewish state. I mean, what has the UN accomplished lately besides condemning and strong-arming Israel into deals detrimental to its survival?
